The Carnival of Cecina is an appointment that is renewed every year involving all the town’s inhabitants and the shopkeepers of the city center. Throughout the carnival period, every weekend in February, the city presents parades of allegorical wagons, music bands, and dance groups.
The squares and the main streets of Cecina are therefore animated by masked children, families, paper masks, musicians and more. Even the shops in the center are involved in the party. In fact, each purchase entitles you to participate in the extraction of discount coupons that can be used in the shops.
The one of Cecina is a great event also for the nearby localities such as Guardistallo, Montescudaio, Bibbona.
Moving just a few miles south along the coast, the most famous carnival is the one of Follonica. This is an event that has been known since 1910, when was organized the first carnival celebrations.
Today, the event has turned into a parade of allegorical wagons made by the city’s districts that compete for the title of Best Wagon of the Year. Along with these wagons there are even masks and music bands on the waterfront. Follonica’s Carnival is the best of fun of all children and their families.

The area behind the beach at the Gulf of Baratti hosted a lively settlement of the Etruscan people. Here, the Etruscans worked on metals coming from the mines of Elba Island, in particular iron.
Today there are only a few traces of their presence left. The most important and best preserved are collected in the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia. It is a real open-air museum of incredible charm, immersed in the colors and scents of Mediterranean nature.
The park is open to the public since 1998, its surface covers about 80 hectares between Piombino, the promontory of Populonia and the beach of Baratti.
In this land have been discovered several Etruscan necropolises which, according to experts, date back to the 7th and 6th centuries B.C. The most famous are the Necropolis of San Cerbone and the Necropolis of the Caves. The latter, in particular, appears as a high rock facade in which many single-room tombs have been excavated. The view is particularly impressive.
Visitors are free to move around the park following the paths specially-made for them. Every point of interest is well marked at every intersection.

The territory of the Etruscan Coast is characterized by vast cultivated fields, gentle hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, long sandy beaches and historic villages with medieval charm.
In this paradise dominates the Mediterranean nature and the Mediterranean diet. In the kitchen, only seasonal fruits and vegetables are used mostly from local campaigns that have a low impact on the environment. On the table there is always the typical Tuscan bread, kneaded without salt, and even the extra virgin olive oil.
The cultivation of olives and vines is one of the main and most traditional of the territory. The hills just a few kilometers from the sea are covered with vineyards and olive groves from which excellent quality products are obtained. Over time, the popularity of oil and wine in the Etruscan Coast grew to overcome national borders. Today it is here that are produced some of the world’s most famous Italian wines such as Sassicaia.
On the coast is very common to eat fresh fish of the Mediterranean Sea, while in the hinterland is often cooked wild game of the local forests: wild boars, hare and rabbits.

Immersed in the Livorno countryside, just a short distance from Camping Le Palme, there are numerous little villages of medieval origin. Many of these have preserved their original urban structure and still have stone paved alleys, high walls, churches and historic palaces. Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri are two of the most evocative villages in the area.
Located a few miles away from each other, they are the ideal place to spend a day in contact with nature.
The history of the two towns is deeply tied to the Della Gherardesca family, the only administrator in the area up to 1800s. The wine-making activities on the hills surrounding Castagneto and Bolgheri is due to them and nowadays it produce red wines of excellent quality. Both towns have become crucial destinations for any lover of good food and wine. This is the production place of Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Grattamacco, Masseto.
The castle of Bolgheri, right at the entrance of the village and symbol of the town, is still the property of Della Gherardesca family. In front of its tower ends the famous “Avenue of the Cypresses”, also decanced by Carducci in his works, in fact the poet spent here his childhood.

The Nature Reserve Tombolo di Cecina is a true environmental paradise overlooking the beach, just a stone’s throw from the sea. It is about 15 km of Mediterranean scrub and wild sand dunes where to find peace and relaxation.
Within the reserve you are surrounded by the silence of the pines and wrapped in their shade: a cool shelter from the sun during the hot summer days that characterize the coast.
An excursion to the Nature Reserve Tombolo di Cecina allows you to appreciate the vegetation and to see the small animals that have been sheltered. In fact, the pine forest has been crossed in a long and wide way by numerous paths ideal for trekking, running and mountain biking. In the summer these routes are used to reach the beach easily because the reserve, considered the green lung of Cecina, separates the city center from the sea.
Many tourists and visitors use the park’s trails for even the lightest sporting activity, and is very popular even in the evening especially for walks in the company of friends and family. In the Nature Reserve Tombolo di Cecina there are also several picnic areas and where to organize cheerful outdoor dining during the warm season.

A few kilometers from Marina di Bibbona, nestled in the shaded pine forest that characterizes the local Tuscan coast, is the largest amusement park in the region. It is the Cavallino Matto, a playground open in 1967 and still in business.
The park is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, which in itself creates a truly impressive atmosphere and equipped with refreshments and outdoor picnic areas.
Every attraction of Cavallino Matto is designed for the fun of adults and kids. Year after year the park is enriched with new entertainments to satisfy children of all ages.
In particular there are the adrenaline Project 1 roller coaster, the 50 meter high Shocking Tower, the Yucatan, a giant wheel that swings at high speed, and the Wild Mine, the roller coaster with old mine trucks instead of wagons.
There are also 4D cinema, water splash battles at the Bucanieri Bay and Italy’s first stand up coaster, where you can reach 90 km/h.
The smaller ones have a playground where they can enjoy ponies, the slides and the educational path that simulates road traffic.

The Etruscan Coast is a charming territory between the sea and the hills, dotted with medieval villages and with even older traditions. One of the most popular activities in the area is viticulture. In the countryside there are numerous farms that produce wines of excellent quality.
This wealth is enhanced along the Etruscan Coast’s Wine Route. Here is where the Sassicaia and the Bolgheri DOC are born, some of the most precious wines of the world.
The path of the Wine Route is about 150 km long and crosses the entire territory, immersing itself in fields, farms and vineyards. It is an ideal route for those enthusiasts who want to taste local wines in their production area.
Easy to walk even in a “slow” way by foot or by bicycle, along the route you will find wine cellars, wine shops, taverns, farms where you can venture into the typical flavors of the area.
Beside the focus on wine, you can attend tasting of oil, honey, cheeses, preserves and much more.
In addition, moving along the Etruscan Coast’s Wine Road, you are always surrounded by the scents and colors of Mediterranean nature.

Marina di Bibbona is a quiet tourist resort with cool mediterranean pine forests and a long beach of golden sand.
The heart of the town is located around the ancient grand duchy fortress, this is the favorite spot of all the tourist in Marina di Bibbona. At night is possible to move in one of the many towns of the countryside where are often organized parties and festivals. It is the perfect occasion to taste local recipes, dive into local culture and visit the area.
You can find numerous colorful markets open air with handicraft stalls and street food, perfect for a walk with the whole family. Do not miss even a stop to local ice cream shops that offer a tasty remedy to the great heat of the tuscan summer nights.
A short distance from Marina di Bibbona is located the town of Cecina, rich in possibilities and clubs suitable even for the younger ones. The core of the nightlife is located along the shoreline with beach parties, lots of music and entertainment. In the old town are instead organized cultural events and open air shows.

The Gulf of Baratti is a natural oasis enclosed between Poggio San Leonardo and the promontory of Piombino, just a few km from Marina di Bibbona. All along the gulf bay extends a wonderful sandy beach sparkling with thousands of light reflections. Mixed to the sand there are many microscopic iron grains that sparkle when hit by the sunlight. They are just waste left on the beach in etruscan and roman times when the area was an important industry pole processing iron coming from Elba Island.
To testify this activity of Baratti and Populonia, nearby the beach are located lots of etruscan necropolis. Once crossed the pine forest dividing the beach from the inland countryside is possible to enter in an archeological park that you can visit alone following the visitor’s paths.
The sea of the Gulf of Baratti is crystal clear and calm, ideal even for small kids because the seabed is very low up to several meters from the shore. In Baratti there is even a small touristic port that can host several sail boats and catamarans.

Marina di Bibbona is located just a few km from Cecina, one of the most appreciated locality of the Tuscan Coast. Here are some beautiful sandy beaches and lots of fun for adults and kids.
Families can choose among numerous activity both on the coast or inland. In the heart of Marina di Cecina is located a big water park that offers many water attractions suitable for every ages: is the Acqua Village. The park is circa 40.000 square meters, and 3.000 of these are covered by pools for adults and kids.
All the attractions of the park are great for big and small kids: the first ones can have fun with several slides, up to 60 m high, to enjoy alone or in a group. You can slide in the water on inflatables two-seats or suitable for 4-5 persons. The second ones can instead play in the “lagoon area” with mini-slides, waterfalls and waters games.
There is even a big pool with artificial waves and an hot tub for the relax of the adults. Inside the Acqua Village are located even several restaurant areas and playground to play sports such as beach volley and football.
The whole area of the pools is supervised by the staff and by lifeguards.
