The route from Livorno to Piombino through Castiglioncello, Rosignano, Vada and Baratti offers an enchanting view of the Etruscan Coast, characterized by rocky coves and long sandy beaches.
The promontory of Castiglioncello is famous for its many accesses to the sea. The crystal clear waters, especially near the rocks, are ideal for snorkeling.
Between Rosignano and Vada stretch long white sandy beaches, unique throughout Tuscany. With almost 4 km of coastline, these beaches offer shallow and calm waters, evoking typical Caribbean landscapes.
The Gulf of Baratti boasts even wider and more suggestive beaches. A short distance from the coast, you can visit the remains of ancient Etruscan necropolis, medieval fortresses and scenic villages.
Behind the beaches of the Etruscan Coast lies a dense Mediterranean pine forest that separates the sea from the countryside and the towns of the hinterland. This lush vegetation is criss-crossed by paths and narrow streets perfect for cycling, mountain biking and running, as well as for picnics and walks during the hottest hours of the day. The pine forest is particularly charming between Marina di Cecina and Marina di Bibbona.
